Robson, 509-826-3392 PIONEER PARK CAMPGROUND CONSTRUCTION: The Colville National Forest requires construction services for the Pioneer Park Campground. Project Location: from Newport, WA, travel east on US Highway 2, through Oldtown, ID, crossing the Pend Oreille River. At the east end of the bridge (crossing the Pend Oreille River), turn north on County Road 9305. Travel approximately 2 miles north on County Road 9305 to Pioneer Park Campground. Proposed Work Requirements: 1) Road reconstruction to improve site drainage and access to and through the campgrounds. 2) Reconstruction of parking areas in campground. 3) Install government furnished precast concrete toilet buildings of barrier-free design. 4) Removal or relocation of day-use facilities (picnic tables, firepits) to replace them out of floodplains. Existing sites would be rehabilitated. 5) Replacement of picnic tables and campfire rings with structures that are of barrier-free design. 6) Reconstruction or construction of trails to facilities to be barrier-free. 7)Development of accessways (path, stairways, etc.) at designated location and rehabilitation of trails currently causing bank erosion. 8) Relocation of the host site. The new site would be equipped with power, telephone service and a greywater tank. 9) Replacement of old water distribution system, including possible relocation or reconfiguration, to provide safe drinking water to the public. 10) Paving with hot mix asphalt. 11) Road signs and road closure gates, 12) Construction of new entry to campground, and 13) Construction a three new spurs. The estimated cost of construction for campground work is $100,000- $500,000. The contract time is July 5, 2000 through November 1, 2000.
