The U.S. Navy Fleet & Industrial Supply Center (FISC), San Diego is seeking sources for a state-of-the-art point of sale (POS) scanning system to be used in the management of self-service shop store operations. The purpose of the shop stores is to provide material to Public Works Center personnel for the routine maintenance and repair of government buildings. The required system will allow journeymen to enter a government-owned store facility, fill bills of material by selecting common hardware items from store shelves, and personally scan all material selected. The system is to include a security feature which will preclude any unscanned material from being taken from the store. The security feature may include an electronic exit gateway capable of activating a security alarm. The system must be compatible with, and interface effectively with MAXIMO maintenance management software systems produced by PSDI. The MAXIMO system automates all other aspects of maintenance operations including equipment history, scheduling, preventive maintenance, work order, labor and expense tracking and reporting. This is not a request for proposal. Response to this Sources Sought synopsis will not affect a company's position during any future solicitation. The government does not intend to award a contract based on response to this synopsis alone, or otherwise compensate any sources for any information provided. No basis for claim against the government shall arise as a result of any response to this synopsis, or government use of information provided by sources. Interested sources are invited to respond to this Sources Sought Announcement by providing in writing, at a minimum, the following: a) Company Brochure indicating area of expertise, company size and locations of facilities, b) Demonstration of the offerer's ability to provide state-of-the-art electronic solutions, and particularly, any information which might indicate that the offerer has the technical expertise and applicable background to provide the required system, and c) Demonstration of the offerer's ability to provide technical support for the system described above. Proprietary information should be properly identified. All respondents shall indicate whether they are a small, minority or handicapped owned business. The government reserves the right to set any ensuing acquisition aside for small business.
