B -- PHASE I ARCHAEOLOGICAL INVESTIGATION, C&O CANAL NATIONAL HISTORIC PARK, CUMBERLAND, ALLEGANY COUNTY, MARYLAND SOL DACW31-00-T-0019 DUE 021400 POC Sean Sheehan (410) 962-2935 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District plans to negotiate a sole-source contract with John Milner Associates Inc., 5250 Cherokee Avenue, Suite 410, Alexandria, VA 22312-2052 for the Phase I Archaeological Investigation at the C&O Canal National Historic Park, Cumberland, Allegany County, Maryland. This project is estimated to be between $25,000.00 and $50,000.00. John Milner Associates (JMA) has a great familiarity with the nature of the deposits through their ongoing work in directly adjacent areas. In addition, JMA has extensive knowledge of the background history of the C&O Canal as a result of having previously conducted research on the canal. JMA has successfully excavated archaeological deposits of the type expected to be encountered by the Corps' Phase I Investigation. Thus, the services to be rendered in support of the Corps' Phase I Investigation would be a direct continuation of work already being performed by JMA for others. In addition to possessing the unique knowledge of the project area and arachaeological deposits, JMA is already mobilized in this area to conduct the Phase I Investigation.
