for vertical transportation design and consulting services consists of
preparation of contract documents, including drawings and
specifications for new construction, and repair and renovation of
material lifts, freight and passenger elevators, escalators,
dumbwaiters, and handicap lifts. Other services to be provided include
the preparation of cost estimates, design investigation, code
compliance, and construction support services. Firms applying should be
vertical transportation design oriented with staff or consultants in
mechanical, electrical, and other relevant building trades. Firms must
be familiar with the latest edition of all relevant USPS, ASME, and
local codes and regulations. The following is also required: Experience
in providing construction contract administration or construction
supervision; Evidence of a minimum of 3 years continuous relevant
experience; Evidence of access to professional engineers licensed
within the Local Area; Evidence of access to a Qualified
ElevatorInspector. The contract, with a $5,000 guaranteed minimum
contract amount, will be for a basic term of one year, with individual
work orders being issued. Each work order will be negotiated as an
individual project. Work orders for any one project cannot exceed
$250,000. The contract may be renewed for three, one-year periods
providing the total contract amount does not exceed $2,500,000. The
USPS reserves the right to make multiple awards. Firms qualified to
perform the services noted above are invited to submit a completed
SF-255, Architect-Engineer and Related Services Questionnaire for
Specific Project; and a completed SF-254, Architect-Engineer and
Related Services Questionnaire for the firm and each of the proposed
consultants. Firms with more than one office must indicate on the
SF-255 the staffing composition of the office in which the work will be
performed. Submissions must be made to the above address postmarked not
later than March 10, 2000. The selection will be based on the submitted
SF-255 andSF-254, an interview, and the following order of preference:
(1) Local: within Counties of Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester in the
State of New York; the five boroughs of New York City; and the State of
New Jersey (2) all others. Firms will be considered local only if their
sole office or a local branch office is within the local geographic
area as defined above, and all design, coordination, and management of
the project will be performed in that office. There is no restriction
on the geographic location of consultants. The contract contains a
requirement for evidence of current errors and omissions insurance. To
the fullest extent possible, the US Postal Service welcomes the
participation of women and/or minority owned/operated A-E firms. It is
prohibited to pay any fee to any person or firm contingent upon or
resulting from the award of a contract for this project. Personal
visits and phone calls for the purpose of discussing this project are
