This work consists of, but is not limited to, furnishing all labor, materials and equipment necessary to prepare and paint approximately 10,000 SF of wood paneling and ornate soffits, including new aluminum leaf on trim as well as painting 2000 SF of plaster decorative ceilings in four rooms of the Main Justice Building located between Ninth and Tenth Streets, NW and Constitution and Pennsylvania Avenue. This work requires the highest level of quality for surface preparation and technical expertise for painting on wood and plaster and for the cleaning/restoration of existing aluminum leaf trim as well as application of new aluminum leaf on trim. Bidders are required to submit a description of at least two previous projects in the Washington DC metro area which were a minimum of $25,000 for the painting and restoration of historic, architectural finishes in commercial or governmental buildings at least 60 years old. In addition, prior experience in gold or aluminum leaf is required. References are required from each bidder. Scaffolding is required due to the 28 foot height of the ceiling in the largest room. The space will be available for work from Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Coordination is required with the Department of Justice and the Gilbane Building Company for access to the area. Parking is not available on site; however, a freight elevator and off street unloading is available for small trucks. On site personnel require security clearance which can be accomplished by providing name, date of birth and social security number four days prior to the start of work. Davis-Bacon wages apply for this contract. A contract will be awarded to the bidder whose offer is determined to be the most advantageous to the Government. Price and other award factors will be considered. The work must be completed by May 15, 2000.
