The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) intends to issue a purchase order under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures to Scientific Instrument Services, Inc., 1027 Old York Road, Ringoes, NJ 08551-1039, under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. FSIS intends to purchase: (1) Auto Desorb System, Part No. 786000, one each; (2) Auto Desorb Installation Kit, Part No. 786200, one each; (3) Auto Desorb Installation, Part No. 786100, one each; and (4) Auto Desorb Accessory Kit, Part No. 786030, one each. The system will assist FSIS to perform headspace analyses for volatile and semi-volatile organic substances in solid, liquid, and gas samples. Any other equipment proposed must be compatible and intergrate with our Year 2000 Compliant Hewlett Packard Model 6890 gas chromatographs and fully inter-operable with other conjoined equipment, such as mass spectrometers and accessory analytical instrumentation and layered software. Equipment must be Y2K Compliant, and compatible with existing FSIS equipment. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENT AVAILABLE. Scientific Instrument Services, Inc., is the only known source for providing this equipment. All interested concerns must identify their interest in writing and fully document their capability to meet the Agency's requirements by forwarding a detailed response by February 29, 2000. All responses must be in writing and may be faxed to 301-504-4276. All proposals from responsible sources will be considered by the Agency. If no affirmative written response is received by February 29, 2000 to determine that a comparable source is available, or is more advantageous to the Government, negotitions will take place with Scientific Instruments Services, Inc.
