This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commerical items prepared in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals/bids are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation is being issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) #858508, the provisions and clauses incorporated are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular #97-15. This solicitation is under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) and is a Small Business-Small Purchase Set-Aside. The Standard Industrial Classification Code is 3829 and the business size standard is 500 employees. This will be a Firm-Fixed price contract. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate on a sole source basis with Quantrad Corporation, 8417 Excelsior Drive, Madison, Wisconsin 53717-1901. The requested equipment will provide gama and neutron detection capabilities in a wide range of operating conditions and weather environments in a portable and ruggedized unit. This purchase is being done on a sole source basis because through market research on the Internet no other source for such rangers could be found. The requirements consists of the following: Eight (8) EA. #RNG-PLUS Ranger, Gamma & Neutron Ranger; Eight (8) EA. #ALX-PRT-F2, Portable Printer. -- FOB-Destination -- FBI Academy, ERF Building, Quantico, VA 22135. All responsible sources may submit a quote which shall be considered by the agency. The following FAR clause is incorporated by reference and applies to this acquisition: FAR 52.212-4 Contract Terms and Conditions-Commerical Items (June 1999).
