Soldier Biological Chemical Command's -- Natick Soldier Center
(USASBCCOM-NSC) is proposing to enter into a solicitation for a
commercial energy dispersive x-ray system with image processing which
is required for a Philips/FEI XL30 ESEM, TMP. The system should be
compatible with the ESEM allowing column and stage control of the ESEM
for x-ray analyses and image processing. The x-ray system must have
the capability of performing dot mapping, quantitative/qualitative
analysis, image processing, particle sizing and chemical typing. The
system should be 100% PC based and operate on Windows NT, have the
ability to store data as TIFF files for export and the ability to
incorporate data into report formats using MS Word and Excel. The
system must be able to store x-ray data on individual pixels to allow
reanalysis on stored images. A detector is required which will allow
detection of light element analyses on low z materials down to atomic
number of 4 (BE). Thermal cycling of the detector is required without
degradation and the cool down time of the detector should not exceed
four hours. On site system training by a microscopist and support of
the system and software by service engineers are required. The system
should meet the minimum requirements as follows: Detector, Digital
Acquisition for x-ray signal processing and digital image acquisition,
Minimum specification for digital x-ray processing, Computer,
Software, Image processing, and other requirements which will be
addressed in the Request for Quotes (RFQ). In addition to the
requirements listed above please list any additional software packages
along with their pricing which are available on the system. Delivery
of items are required no later than 31 March 2000. The SIC code for
this acquisition is 3844. The Small Business Size Standard is 500
