ARMY GROUND VEHICLE SURVIVABILITY SYMPOSIUM, March 27-30, 2000, Naval
Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA. This entire symposium on combat and
tactical vehicles is classified up to and including SECRET US ONLY. The
symposium's objective is to bring together the various disciplines
within the Army Ground Vehicle Survivability Community to provide a
forum for technical interchange of the various aspects of the field.
The Symposium will provide a setting for discussion of the implications
of survivability technologies on the modern battlefield, their
relationships to the Army's tactics and doctrines and the effects of
these new technologies on ground vehicle designs. Speakers will include
Major General John S. Caldwell, Jr., Commanding General, US Army
Tank-automotive and Armaments Command; Major General John F. Michitsch,
Program Executive Officer, Ground Combat Support Systems; Major General
Daniel R.Zanini, Deputy Chief of Staff for Combat Developments, U.S.
Army Training and Doctrine Command, Dr. Michael Andrews, Deputy
Assistant Secretary of the Army for Research and Technology; Mr. Dutch
Shoffner, Vice President, Product Development, Lockheed Martin Missile
and Fire Control; Dr. Paul Dietz, Technical Director, US Army Materiel
Systems Analysis Activity; and Mr. Frank Kendall, Member of the Army
Science Board. Sessions will be conducted on Countermeasure Development
& Assessment, Armor/Mine Protection Development & Applications, Active
Protection, Energetic Armor Technology & Developments, Detection
