The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for a 5 watt laser system. We require a single frequency, diode-pumped solid state laser that delivers at least 5 watts of continuous wave power at a wavelength of 532 nanometers; linewidth: not greater than five megahertz; noise: not greater than 0.2 percent rms from 10 hertz to 1 gigahertz; power stability: plus or minus 1 percent over 2 hours after a fifteen minute warm up; pointing stability: not greater than 5 urad/degree centigrade. The single frequency operation is required for planned experiments including Raman and Brillouin scattering. It is the intent of the Government to award this procurement on a sole source basis under authority of 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1) with Coherent Laser Group. This sole source procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (NTE $100,000). This synopsis is issued for information only. No competitive solicitation is planned. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement.
