This material consists of over 1,200 tons of exceptionally large, unique pieces of metal. NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the item from VANCO Distribution Inc. The statutory authority for other than full and open competition is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), "Only One Responsible Source". The unique hardware is owned by VANCO Distribution Inc., thus they are the only firm from whom this hardware can be obtained.
