The General Services Administration is requesting proposals from Energy Service Providers able to provide 100% renewable power to the new Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) New England Regional Laboratory that will be located in Chelmsford, Massachusetts at 11 Technology Drive. Construction is currently in progress and is expected to be complete by winter 2000/2001. In addition to the obvious environmental benefits of using green power at this facility, through this procurement the EPA also hopes to encourage the installation of new renewable generation, support emerging technologies and support the development of a green power market in the New England region. The Request for Proposal will be available in early March. Information regarding a pre-solicitation meeting (tentatively planned for March 9 in Boston) is forthcoming. The successful offeror will supply electricity for 24 full billing cycles, with a 2-year renewal option. The expected start date for delivery shall be the date that the Laboratory becomes operational in winter 2000/2001.
