Saint Louis, 304/636-1800, extension 265 The Monongahela National Forest anticipates contracting for hand tree planting and the placement of tree shelters on the Marlinton/White Sulphur Ranger District, in Pocahontas County, West Virginia. There is a total of 197 acres in 5 bid items to be awarded together or separately. Work includes planting 30 -- 40 red oak tree seedlings per acre in 9 recently clearcut units to supplement natural regeneration. It also includes scalping each planting spot and placing individual tree shelters with wood stake and protective net around each seedling. The contract time is 42 calendar days and will run concurrently if more than one item is awarded. It is anticipated that work will commence approximately April 1.
