Dickens, Contracting Officer at 202/708-8560 The U.S. Department of Education (ED),Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) contemplates on a sole source basis, the extension of the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) contract PM93015001, for a period of eighteen (18)months beginning July 1, 2000 to December 31, 2001 to the following contractor: Raytheon E-System, Falls Church, VA. The proposed extension is to fulfill the requirements for project management, software modification, system implementation, system operation, systems development, management analysis tasks, and customer support for the NSLDS. ED's modernization architecture, which will affect the NSLDS and all others in Student Financial Aid(SFA)is being planned for implementation. The primary reason for this action is to avoid serious disruption in services provided and prevent unacceptable delays in fulfilling our mission for the 2001-2002 academic year while the new architecture and strategy for implementation are being clearly defined.
