COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 23,2000 PSA#2542

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia Wanamaker Building, Room 643, 100 Penn Square East, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19107

Z -- REHABILITATION OF SOUTH JETTY, WLIMINGTON HARBOR, CHRISTINA RIVER, DELAWARE SOL DACW61-00-B-0005 DUE 041200 POC Jennifer McGivern, Contract Specialist, 215-656-6773 The Wilmington Harbor South Jetty is a 1,500 foot long structure designed to reduce siltation in the Christina River. Built circa 1935, it consists of 13 circular sheet pile cells varying in diameter from 25 to 45 feet connected in between by corrugated sheet pile sections. Each cell contains fill material topped by a concrete cap. Over time, corrosion has damaged the sheet pile cell walls such that fill material has been lost creating voids under the concrete cap. Work under this contract will involve removal of the existing concrete cap on each cell, backfilling of the void, and placement a new, thicker concrete cap on top of the cell to extend around the sheet pile such that corrosion of the sheet pile is encapsulated (approximately to a depth of 14 feet below existing top of cell). To further stabilize the jetty, underwater placement of a concrete revetment at the toe of the jetty (around existing underwater obstructions -- batter piles, etc) will be required. Note that the Contractor will be required to work around existing pipelines and access walkways as the jetty also serves as an active oil barge/ship offloading platform. As such, some down time will be required for oil offloading operations. Also remove concrete cap on each cell, backfill the void, and replace with new thicker concrete cap. Solicitation documents will be furnished on CD-ROM only on or about March 13, 2000; hard copies will not be available. Contractors may view and/or download this solicitation and all amendments from the Internet at the following address: at http://ebs.nap.usace.army.mil/ASP/AdvertisedSolicitations.asp on or after issue date of the solicitation; however the official media of distribution for this solicitation is the CD-ROM". One copy of the CD-ROM will be furnished to each bidder at no charge. Requests for a CD-ROM shall be made by registering on the Internet or submitting a request in writing to the attention of Jennifer McGivern. Requests may also be submitted by fax to 215 656-6780 or 215 656-6798. All requests must include a physical street address, telephone number, fax number, point of contact, and business size. Additional copies of the CD-ROM will be provided at a charge of $5.00/CD, made payable to "USACE Finance Center, Millington". Bidders are responsible for printing paper copies of the solicitation. Bids will be opened on or about April 12, 2000 at 11:00 am. This procurement is unrestricted. The Standard Industrial Classification Code is 1629 with a size standard of $17.0 million. The estimated range of the project is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000.00 and bonding is required. Affirmative action to insure equal employment opportunity is applicable to the resulting contract. Award will be made as a whole to one bidder. All contractors must be registered in the DoD's Central Contract Register before award as required by DFARS 204.7300. Posted 02/18/00 (W-SN426905).
