Division of Clinical Sciences intends to procure an upgrade package for
its Pixcell Laser Microdissection System (LCMS) from Arcturus
Engineering, Inc., 2630 Walsh Avenue, Santa Clara, CA 95051. The
upgrade is for an existing Arcturus Pixcell System. The unique features
of the upgrade are: 1) precise single cell transfers; 2) easy
interactions of a large group of cells with continuous laser fire mode;
3) Microprocessor controlled electronics for accurate laser parameter
control; and 4) Imaging, merging, translation, and rotation. Improved
functions as a result of the proposed upgrade will be: 1) variable
transfer sizes (<7.5 um, 15 um, 30 um); 2) Improved vacuum chuck for
slide hold- down and reduced sample cross-contamination; 3) Improved
capping station; and 4) Reduced lab bench footprint. Since the current
LCM was purchased from the above source, it is the only known source
that can provide the aforementioned upgrades to NCI's current system to
make it a Pixcell II.This is not a solicitation for quotes. However, if
any interested party believes it can meet he above requirement, they
may submit a statement of capabilities. All information furnished shall
be in writing and must contain sufficient detail to allow the NCI
researcher to determine if the upgrade is comparable relative to the
requirements and specifications described herein, including
compatibility of the existing LCM. Capability statements must be
received in the Contracting Office by 1:00 PM EST (local Washington,

Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses
to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
