This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR subpart 12/6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation 01-3655-0004 is being issued as a Request for Quotation. This solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-15. The solicitation is 100% Set aside for small businesses. Standard industrial classification code 3826 with a corresponding size standard of 500 employees applies to qualify as a small business. The Malt Quality Analysis Service group analyses several thousand malt samples each year for public sector breeders. This instrument will be used to determine the amount of extracted materials from these samples. The specifications for this densitometer will be: 1) fully automated sample handling (10 ml samples), 2) accuracy of density to 5 X 10-6 g/cm 3 and temperatures to +/- 0.01EC, 3) capable of measuring at temperatures from 0EC to 80EC, 4) sampling times of less than 5 minutes, 5) RS232 capability and 6) automated printout of results. Other features, which would be desirable, are 1) storage of multiple analysis parameters and 2) bar code capability.
