The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate with South Bay Technology for a TL-IV3/H/L, IV3 Ion Mill System with Low Energy Gun and Diaphragm Pump with Termination Timer, Teletwin Ion Source, Power Supply, Spare Parts Kit, Neutral Beam Cathode, and Installation and Training.****The TL-IV3/H/L Mill must be purchased from South Bay Technology because it is the only ion mill on the market that has a patented low energy ion gun with a range of 100eV to 2kV which allows milling at very low energy levels. The South Bay Technology IV3 mills at a rate greater than 2.5 um per hour at 500eV, which is critical for the work done at NIST. **** The required delivery is 90 days after receipt of order, FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD. The statutory authority is 41USC 254 (c)(1), only one responsible source that can meet the requirements of the Government. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only onesource under the authority of FAR 6.302.
