RFP 509-37-00 DUE 032800 POC Faye Thomas, 706-731-7176 Department of
Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Augusta, Georgia, intends to negotiate
a sole source procurement under the authority of Federal Acquisition
Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, with Shepeard Community Blood Center for
autologous blood, red blood cells; platelet concentrates, random donor;
platelet phereses; red cells, allogeneic; and fresh frozen plasma for
the period April 15, 2000 through April 14, 2001. Contract requires
supplier to collect, process, label, store and transport red cells
donations from VA autologous patients to VA Medical Center, Augusta,
Georgia, Transfusion Service, to allow donations before surgery to be
used after surgery if needed. All procedures, protocols, testing
methodologies for determining donor suitability, managing donor care
during and after transfusion, and testing of donated blood for release
must be in accordance witht he most recent requirements of FDA and
AABB. Products must be delivered or available for pickup so that
delivery to the Transfusion Service will occur within 30 minutes from
the time the order is placed with the supplier. This notice of intent
is not a request fro proposals. A determination by the Government not
to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice
is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received
will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to
conduct a competitive procurement. All responses must be submitted no
