This is a multipurpose measurement system intended for measuring physical properties of samples, including AC susceptibility, DC magnetization, heat capacity, resistivity, magneto-transport, and torque magnetometry. This system will be used in several research programs at NRL. In general, these programs endeavor our understanding of the physical properties of novel materials by measuring and analyzing their magnetic and electrical transport properties. 1. General Specifications. Measurements shall be automated (Computer controlled). Samples shall be mountable on removable stages for easy access. The control software shall allow programmed and manual control of measurement parameters such as temperature and magnetic field. The system shall have open architecture to allow custom modifications of hardware and software.
