SOLICITING BIDS FOR ASSISTANCE IN REMOVING AND DISPOSING 55 GALLON
DRUMS AND ASSOCIATED FLUIDS, FOR THE BERING LAND BRIDGE NATIONAL
PRESERVE IN NORTHWESTERN ALASKA. CONDUCTED UNDER THE AUSPICES OF
CERCLA, THE REMOVAL ACTION WOULD TARGET APPROXIMATELY 876 DRUMS WITH UP
TO 3,700 GALLONS OF POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS WASTES FROM A 155 MILE LONG
BEACH SEGMENT OF THE NORTH COAST OF THE SEWARD PENISULA. NPS IS
PROPOSING A MARINE BASED OPERATION FOR DRUM RETRIEVAL AND BULKING
UTILIZING A MIXED NPS AND CONTRACTOR TEAM. THE CONTRACTOR WOULD BE
PRIMARILY RESPONSIBLE FOR PROJECT LOGISTICS, HEALTH AND SAFETY, VESSEL
CHARTER, DRUM CHARACTERIZATION, BULKING, SAMPLING, AND DISPOSAL. NPS
WOULD PROVIDE PROJECT AND ENVIRONMENTAL OVERSIGHT, DRUM RETRIEVAL AND
SOME EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES. FIELD WORK MUST BE COMPLETED BETWEEN JULY
