NASA/LaRC plans to issue a IFB for labor, equipment, and material to replace the built-up roofing and insulation systems of Buildings 1247A and 1247B at Langley Research Center. The work includes but is not limited to: demolition of existing built-up roofing systems including four-ply built-up roofing, aggregate ballast, walkway planks, flashings, wood nailers and cants, pitch pockets, roof drains, roof insulation, concrete equipment pads, pipe supports, curb assembly, and pipe seals; remove, extend, and replace existing air intake and exhaust head ductwork; provide new four-ply built-up roofing systems, flashings, pitch pockets, retrofit roof drain assemblies and piping, roof expansion joint construction and flashing, walkway planks, pipe supports, pipe curb assembly, pipe seals, and pipe flashing, roof curbs and supports. The Contractor shall remove and recover R-22 refrigerant from existing rooftop air conditioning unit and several condensing units; temporarily remove and reinstall seven condensing units; remove one rooftop air conditioning unit and cap piping; and purge and pressure test refrigerant piping. The order of magnitude for the procurement is between $250,000 and $500,000 and the effort shall be completed within 240 calendar days after notice to proceed. This procurement is part of the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. The SIC Code and small business size standard for this procurement are 1761 and $7,000,000, respectively. The anticipated release date of the IFB is on or about March 9, 2000 with an anticipated offer closing date of on or about April 14, 2000. The firm date for receipt of bids will be stated in the IFB.
