E-MAIL: Sharon V. Hare, S.V.HARE@larc.nasa.gov. NASA/LaRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a Magna Star C-2000 Digital Aircraft Telecommunications. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from DAC International, Inc. DAC International is the only known source for this equipment. The equipment must have compatibility with the Honeywell Total Aircraft Information System and two-way air phone data link weather information from the Honeywell Data Center. This system must be fully compatible with the data compression scheme used by Honeywell for the Weather Accident Prevention (WxAP) experiments aboard the NASA Boeing 757 aircraft. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on March 9, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
