Mumford (606)745-3127; Rick Lowe (270)924-2074 The Contractor shall provide the services necessary for Animal Husbandry of Elk and Bison Herds at the Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area. Land Between The Lakes NRA has two display herds. One herd is composed of Elk and Bison and the other is Bison only. The Elk and Bison Prairie is located in Trigg County, Kentucky and the South Bison Range is located in Stewart County, Tennessee. The project consists of providing a variety of animal husbandry services including, but not limited to, monitoring the herds, feeding during the winter months, pest control measures, providing nutritional supplements, and coordinating needed veterinary services. The work also includes activities such as checking fence lines (approximately 8 miles) and making repairs as necessary, or coordinating repairs by others, taking soil samples and having fertilizer applied as needed, and other duties related to maintenance of the herd compounds. The Contractor will also assist in the roundup of elk and bison for testing,inoculation, and transfer or sale of surplus animals. Most supplies/materials and veterinary services related to this contract will be paid for/provided by the Government. This project will be solicited using the request for proposal format. Selection of a Contractor will be based on price and technical evaluation factors such as experience/qualifications and past performance of similar type of work/contracts. Price will be somewhat less important than the technical evaluation factors. The term of the contract will consist of a base year period and two option year periods.
