COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 1,2000 PSA#2547ASSOCIATION OF OLD CROWS ELECTRO-OPTICAL/INFRARED CONFERENCE The AOC
will conduct its third government/industry Electro-Optical/Infrared
(EO/IR) conference March l5-l6, 2000 at the US Army Research
Laboratory, Adelphi, Maryland. The conference will be at the Secret, US
Only classification level and will be chaired by Mr. Tony Grieco,
Deputy Director, Electronic Warfare, Office of the Undersecretary of
Defense (Acquisition, Technology & Logistics). The keynote speaker will
be RADM Jeffrey Cook, USN, Navy Program Executive Officer (Tactical
Aircraft). The conference will provide an important forum on the
systems and technologies being developed to counter the modern EO/IR
threat. The theme of the conference is: "EO/IR Countermeasures in an
Uncertain World-Future Challenges." Session I, chaired by COL William
R. Aultman, USA, OUSD (AT&L), will include the following briefings: OSD
Infrared Countermeasures (IRCM) Plan; a Threat Overview by DIA;
individual Service program briefings from Army's PEO Aviation, Redstone
Arsenal, the Navy's PEO Tactical Aviation, Office of the Secretary of
the Air Force for Acquisition (SAF/AQPS) and US Special Operations
Command (SOCOM). Session II, chaired by Tom Burgher, Director, ECM
Systems, Raytheon Company, will focus on IRCM systems status. Briefings
on specific systems and programs include: the AAR-54 & AAR-57 passive
missile warning systems; Common Missile Warning System (CMWS); Naval
Research Lab (NRL) on TACAIR Directional IRCM and Shipboard Littoral
IRCM; Air Force Aeronautical Systems Center (ASC) on Large Aircraft IR
Countermeasures (LAIRCM); US Army Communications-Electronics Command
(CECOM) on AVR-2 airborne laser detector, VVR-1 laser warning receiver
and the Advanced Threat Infrared Countermeasures (ATIRCM) system; and
a SOCOM briefing on SOF DIRCM. Session III, chaired by Ron Langietti,
Northrop Grumman, will cover Technology Status and the Army, Navy, Air
Force and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) IRCM
Roadmaps. The final session, chaired by Steve Bowers, President, Alloy
Surfaces, will cover expendables with papers being given by ASC on the
Advanced Strategic and Tactical Infrared Expendables (ASTE)
