SOURCES FOR COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE OFF-THE-SHELF UNDERWATER BOUYANCY
COMPENSATOR This synopsis is for information and planning purposes
ONLY, and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government.
Interested entities may submit written responses to: Naval EOD
Technology Division, 2008 Stumpneck Road, Code 052, Indian Head MD
20640-5070, Attn: Karen A. Carnes. Availability of any formal
solicitation will be announced separately. Information submitted should
be pertinent and specific in the technical area under consideration, on
each of the following qualifications: commercially available underwater
bouyancy compensator for use with the U. S. Navy closed circuit
rebreather Underwater Breathing Apparatus (UBA) MK 16 MOD 0. Bouyancy
Compensator must have low magnetic and acoustic signature. It should be
equipped with an autonomous power inflation system (high pressure
compressed air cylinder,multiple CO2 cartridges are not acceptable),
and oral inflation capabilities with ability to provide bouyancy
control during UBA mission operations. High-pressure compressed air
bottle should be mounted on bouyancy compensator right or left side to
minimize possibility of contact with influence ordnance. Bouyancy
Compensator should have capability to carry and jettison counter
weights as required. Bouyancy Compensator must be easily removed from
host UBA for operational and post dive maintenance purposes with a
quick disconnect feature, and should be adjustable to suit varying
diver sizes. Host UBA mission profile requires dives to 300 feet of
salt water to locate, identify and neutralize underwater ordnance
including mines actuated through magnetic and acoustic influence. There
is no specific format or outline that your response must follow.
Include other descriptive literature and any other specific and
pertinent information that would enhance our consideration and
evaluation of the information submitted. Firms responding should
indicate whether they are a small business, 8(a), a socially and
economically disadvantaged business, large business, or a woman-owned
business. Please include two (2) copies of each response. Each response
must reference the sources sought number and must be limited in length
