IT2 provides a five-year framework to conduct a series of iterative acquisitions to fulfill Air Force Information Technology (IT) requirements as existing contractual vehicles expire or new requirements evolve. The next iterative acquisition is for the Workstation Supplier Market Category (SMC). This category will consist of a wide range of various platforms of workstations, with related peripherals, accessories, and configuration support. It is envisioned that these workstations use industry standard operating system software such as Sun Solaris, HP UX, Windows 2000, SCO Unix, and Linux. These workstations will be used for functions such as: command and control, software development, web development, high-end graphics/imaging, weather, etc. Additionally, these workstations may also perform as servers. Headquarters Standard Systems Group will be seeking sources interested in participating in this acquisition. This is not a formal solicitation under FAR Part 15 or a FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition, but an advance notice that a formal invitation to compete for a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) under the terms of your General Services Administration (GSA) Federal Supply Schedule (FSS) contract in accordance with FAR Part 8.4 can be expected within a few weeks. The primary intent of this notification is to give companies interested in competing for this BPA an opportunity to solidify their planning processes and, if necessary, establish those teaming arrangements that may be required. Interested sources need not identify themselves.
