A -- CHEMICALLY BASED DECONTAMINATION OF BUILDINGS SOL 00-16 DUE 031500 POC Ms. Kristen Numrych, Fax (703) 696-2208 DARPA intends to award a sole-source contract to Physical Sciences, Inc., (PSI) of Andover, MA, to work on a technique to decontaminate buildings after attack by biological warfare agents (BWAs). The proposed technique employs a proprietary strategy developed by PSI, using a combination of chemicals and light to kill or render ineffective BWAs. PSI has shown initial proof-of-concept work that demonstrated enhanced killing of spores using this technique. This funding will be used to attempt to develop the basic technique into a process that can be employed in the event that a BWA is released in or around a building and leaves behind residual (deposited) contamination on the interior building surfaces. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Contractors capable of offering their service must respond within 15 days of the date of this notice by submitting specific technical capability to provide this service. All responses received within 15 days after publication of this synopsis will be considered by the government solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
