The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) intends to negotiate a sole source procurement with The Center for In Vivo Microscopy, Duke University Medical Center, Box 3302, Durham, NC 27710, for the acquisition of MRIs with accompanying prints and videotapes, the contractor will perform a series of MRIs of the chests of animals (rats) exposed to ambient air pollution particles and will perform in vivo imaging on animals using MRI. EPA believes that the Center for in Vivo Microscopy at Duke University Medical Center, is the only vendor capable of satisfying requirements stated above. The Duke Center for In Vivo Microscopy is the only institution with the capacity to do MRIs of the chest of small animals. The period of performance is expected to be from Effective date of award through a period not to exceed 6 months. No Solicitation is available. All interested parties who believe they can provide the required services should fully explain their capabilities in writing within 15 days of the date of this announcement. The intent of this synopsis is to determine if any sources (s) exist and, therefore, no RFP is available. Consequently, any response(s) failing to provide the aforementioned data but instead choosing to merely submit a routine letter requesting a copy of the RFP will be ignored.
