COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 2,2000 PSA#2548Redwood National Park, 1111 Second Street, Crescent City, CA 95531 F -- MARBLED MURRELET SURVEY SOL RQ848000009 POC Ms. Lyn Giddings,
(707) 464-6101, ext. 5041 E-MAIL: National Park Service, Redwood
National Park, lyn_giddings@nps.gov. The National Park Service seeks
qualified firms/contractors to conduct marbled murrelet (MAMU) surveys
in the Lost Man Creek watershed at Redwood National Park (RNP),
located near Orick in Humboldt County, CA. Eleven hundred and eight
acres need to be surveyed to determine presence and occupancy of MAMUs
within mile of proposed work sites. The vegetation is primarily second
growth redwood-Douglas fir forest with scattered residual old growth
redwood and Douglas fir trees. One hundred ninety acres to be surveyed
are in old growth redwood forest. The MAMU survey data will be used in
consultations with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) to
determine possible effects of noise generated by watershed
restoration/road removal projects on marbled murrelets. No old growth
trees will be removed during the road removal projects although second
growth vegetation growing on the road prism will be removed. The MAMU
surveys must be conducted as specified in "Methods for Surveying for
Marbled Murrelets in Forests: A Protocol for Land Management and
Research", dated March 1994 and as amended by subsequent annual letters
from the USFWS. The government intends to award one
request-for-proposal type purchase order for the 2000 breeding season
with an option to extend the contract for the 2001 breeding season to
resurvey the same areas. The following criteria, listed in order of
importance, will be used in the selection of qualified firms: (1) Past
performance; (2) MAMU survey experience; and (3) Price. Interested
parties may submit a written request for solicitation to the attention
of the Purchasing Agent, Redwood National Park, 1111 Second Street,
Crescent City, CA 95531. This will be a firm fixed price contract, set
aside for small businesses. A limited number of solicitation packages
will become available approximately mid-March on a first-come,
first-served basis until supply is exhausted. There will be no charge
for the solicitation package, however only one copy will be furnished
per each requesting party. Interested parties should request a
solicitation package in writing to the Purchasing Agent at Redwood
National Park or fax it to (707) 464-1812. Telephone requests will not
be honored. Posted 02/29/00 (W-SN429760). (0060) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0044 20000302\F-0001.SOL)
