E-MAIL: Sharon V. Hare, S.V.HARE@larc.nasa.gov. NASA/LaRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a Griptester trailer to serve as a master friction calibration device. More test runs and reliable, accurate friction data has been collected with these testers. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from Findlay Irvine LTD. Findley Irvine LTD is the only company that makes the GripTester. The GripTester was selected last year by the joint program advisory aboard to be one of three master calibration devices for use at NASA Wallops Flight Facility. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on March 14, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitivebasis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
