TOLEDO@CONTRACTS.NRL.NAVY.MIL. This modification is issued to answer
technical questions regarding the combined synopsis/solicitation
N00173-00-R-AT01 for Research Grade Scanning Electron Microscope that
was issued on 04 February 2000. Question No. 1: Regarding item 10,
should it read "The system shall have probe current adjustment" instead
of "The system shall have prove current adjustment?" Answer: Item 10
should read "The system shall have probe current adjustment." Question
No. 2: Regarding item 16 "The system shall have 5 axis motorized stage
with touch alarm." There is no mention of, or specification for the
amount of stage traverse or the chamber size. This would be critical in
determining the size of the End-user's samples and how much of
mentioned samples could be viewed (imaged). Answer: The specimen
chamber shall be at least 300mm in length, 260mm in width or greater
and 190mm deep, and shall contain accessory ports for the adaptation of
other equipment should the need arise. In order to accommodate larger
specimen sizes that are sometimes used, it is necessary to have a Z
clearance greater than 70mm. The 5 axis motorized stage shall have a
travel range as follows: 1) X= 100 mm or greater; 2) Y= 125 mm or
greater; 3) Z>30mm; 4) Tilt 0-90 degrees; and 5) Rotation 360
degrees. This size is necessary to view the entire area of a 4 to 5"
silicon wafer at high tilt angles. The Z clearance is necessary to view
large objects, which sometimes arise when examining samples for end
users. It is also desirable to have a multi-sample holder to speed
examination. Offerors are advised to include with their offer a
completed copy of the following provisions: FAR 52.212-3, Offeror
Representations and Certifications-Commercial Items (Web site:
http://heron.nrl.navy.mil/contracts/reps&certs.htm) and DFARS
252.225-7000, Buy American Act-Balance of Payments Program Certificate.
