Hubbell/Tamarack City Treatment Site project located in Houghton
County, Michigan consisting of the placement of a 6 inch layer of
earthen cover over approximately 140 acres of stamp sand and other
copper mine residue. Major items of construction are as follows:
Structure removal (onsite disposal and offsite disposal)(lump sum);
Pollution control (lump sum); Seeding and mulching (140 acres) Note: No
grass seeding may be performed between the dates of September 10 and
October 20, 2000; Irrigation system (lump sum); Irrigation application
(lump sum); Mobilization and demobilization (lump sum); Access road
(12,011 L.F.); Temporary access road (900 L.F.); Dikes (lump sum);
Diversions (3,710 L.F.); Waterways (1,695 L.F.); Drop structure (70
L.F.); Rock chutes, D50=6"(325 Ton); Rock chutes, D50=12" (222 Ton);
Shoreline protection (5,298 Ton); Riprap channel (275 Ton); Chain link
fence, 6 feet (4,815 L.F.); Double swing gate, 6 feet (2 each); Chain
link fence, 4 feet (1,388 L.F.); Double swing gate, 4 feet (2 each);
Cover material (140 acres); and Field Office (lump sum). Estimated cost
is between $1,000,000. and $5,000,000. Bid packages will be available

Site showing will be April 12, 2000 at 1:00 PM (EDT) at the UPPCO
Building, 600 East Lakeshore Drive, Houghton, MI 49931. The bid opening
will be at the same location on May 4, 2000 at 1:00 PM(EDT). Notice to
proceed is expected to be issued on or about May 18, 2000 with
construction to begin May 30, 2000. Performance time is 163 days. A bid
guarantee of 20% of the bid amount must accompany your bid proposal.
PLEASE NOTE: Contractor will be required to follow the USDA, NRCS
Safety Plan and all site workers including subcontractors will need the
24-hour Hazwoper training prior to any construction activity. This is
being required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Posted
