Background " Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH is contemplating the purchase of 1 Lot encompassing a complete multimedia system for customer immersion/interaction that functions as a scientific multimedia laboratory for engineering design and analysis applications as well. The system would consist of the following: computers designed for multimedia purposes with at least 8 gigabytes of central processing unit memory accessible by single or multiple applications, at least 400 gigabytes of disk storage space, and performance greater than or equal to that of an Intel Pentium III processor; a projection system with a concave screen and 30-person maximum seating capacity for viewing; a maximum of 4 peripheral computerized workstations with visual display (and seating if applicable); commercial multimedia and scientific visualization software that shall include, at a minimum, compilers, video and sound device drivers, and networking management and system administration utilities; digital video and sound systems for presentation/application recording and playback; speakers and headphones for high fidelity sound effects; a conference room with furnishings; high-quality lighting; and aesthetic floor and wall coverings. A list of requirements will be provided by the government. All systems must be consistent with those used on existing government computers. The system must be able to run produced and in-house presentations. The customer uses computational resources to develop and apply physics-based modeling and simulation of air vehicles and components. They need to effectively visualize and interpret large volumetric data sets. The necessary elements include recorded animations (from previous or on-going analyses) and actual representations of the digital physical models that can be manipulated in real time. The incorporation of digital human models and their interactions with the designs and concepts is not expected. Contractors will perform the preparation of the 2339 square foot facility. Contractors must be able to provide local technical support as well. A site visit is required for qualifying contractors, and the date and time will be determined and conveyed at a later date. This acquisition may require two phases consisting of a design phase and a proposal phase. Proposals will consist, first, of a written presentation and, then, an oral presentation. A summary of anticipated annual maintenance costs for the facility must be provided. The aesthetic quality of the facility is stressed. This is a 100% Small Business Set-Aside for SIC Code 5731, Dollar Standard $4,500,000. Electronic procedures shall be used for the solicitation. Hardcopies of the solicitation will not be provided.
