labor, material and equipment necessary to perform dockside repairs
including, but not limited to, the following base items: (1) Clean,
inspect and test hot water accumulator tank and hydro-pneumatic tank,
(2) Renew aft vestibule deck, (3) Overhaul commissary hoist equipment,
(4) Inspect WHRS piping and overhaul back and excess steam valves, (5)
Inspect and air test receivers and renew relief valves, (6) Relocate
warping capstan connection box, (7) Inspect talon grid installation,
(8) Overhaul hangar drive mechanisms and hangar door, (9) Preserve AUX
II machinery space bilge, (10) Renew deck coverings, (11) Provide
temporary logistics, (12) Provide a government furnished property (GFP)
report in accordance with solicitation section H. Options include, but
are not limited to the following items: (1) Minor coating repairs: Hot
water accumulator (415 gals.), (2) Minor coating repairs:
Hydro-pneumatic tank (200 gals.), (3) Renew 3 to 10 feet of 1-1/4_to 6_
WHRS piping, (4) Provide additional temporary logistics, and (5)
Composite labor rate. Vessel_s homeport is Portsmouth, Virginia. The
vessel_s length is 270 feet, a medium endurance cutter. Vessel_s
availability is for forty-nine (49) days, starting July 10, 2000.
Drawings are available on CD-ROM, free of charge to contractors.
However, a non-refundable charge of $150.00 is required, in the form of
a certified check or money order payable to the U.S. Coast Guard, for
printed copies of drawings. All other referenced documents are
available for viewing at 300 East Main Street, Suite 600, Norfolk,
Virginia. Funds are available for this procurement. The proposed
contract listed here is part of the Small Business Competitiveness
Demonstration Program. Plans and specifications will be issued on or
around March 24, 2000. All responsible sources may submit a bid, which
shall be considered by the United States Coast Guard. This notice is
for informational purposes for Minority, Women-owned, and Disadvantaged
Business Enterprises (DBEs). The Department of Transportation (DOT),
Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) has a
program to acquire short-term working capital assistance for
transportation related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT
Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provided
