COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 6,2000 PSA#2550DEVELOPMENTS AT NIST Researchers at the National Institute of Standards
and Technology (NIST) have developed a number of new devices and
methods involving a variety of technologies. In certain cases, other
parties have participated in the development of these technologies.
Anyone interested in the further development of any of these
technologies or in applying for a license to commercialize these
technologies should send a written request for further information,
referencing the NIST Docket Number and Title, to: National Institute of
Standards and Technology, Office of Technology Partnerships, 100 Bureau
Drive, Stop 2200, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20899-2200; Telecopy:

grant. NIST DOCKET NUMBER: 99-017/-032/-037US, title: Parallel
Cantilever Biaxial Micro Positioning Stage, Description: A Parallel
Cantilever Biaxial Micro Positioning Stage and corresponding Universal
Flexure Coupler has been developed at NIST that has excellent lateral
translation capabilities in the X and Y directions using actuators
with small ranges coupled to mechanical cantilevers. The object of the
invention is to provide a positioning capability with very low
crosstalk and strong load capabilities for delicate sub-micron
automated assembly and positioning applications. The invention uses low
cost components and matches the capabilities of current expensive
devises that have less load capabilities or only micron level
performance. The Coupler permits a high efficiency connection between
the Micro Positioning Stage and the electrical actuator, and is
designed to ensure transmission of only axial loads. WEB: NIST
