PORTUGUES AND BUCANA RIVERS PROJECT, PUERTO RICO -- PORTUGUES DAM -- INDUSTRY DAY The Jacksonville District of the US Army Corps of Engineers, in partnership with a selected contractor, is going to construct a concrete, arch dam in Puerto Rico. We are considering using a fixed-price contract with an incentive fee for cost control and an award fee for excellent performance in areas such as construction schedule, quality control, safety, and subcontracting with small business. We are inviting all contractors to participate in an information exchange on 28 March 2000 in Jacksonville, FL. Our goal is to gather input for an RFP/contract that will foster partnership and excellence in all aspects of dam construction. We will make a short presentation describing the project, technical requirements, and proposed contract. A general discussion will follow. We will request written comments be submitted no later than 11 April 2000. Information regarding the proposed RFP/contract (e.g., specifications, award fee plan, and drawings) will be posted to our website as it becomes available.
