Chemical Command's -- Natick Soldier Center (USASBCCOM-NSC) is
proposing to enter into a solicitation for a commercial energy
dispersive x-ray system with image processing which is required for a
Philips/FEI XL30 ESEM, TMP. The system should be compatible with the
ESEM allowing column and stage control of the ESEM for x-ray analyses
and image processing. The x-ray system must have the capability of
performing dot mapping, quantitative/qualitative analysis, image
processing, particle sizing and chemical typing. The system should be
100% PC based and operate on Windows NT, have the ability to store data
as TIFF files for export and the ability to incorporate data into
report formats using MS Word and Excel. The system must be able to
store x-ray data on individual pixels to allow reanalysis on stored
images. A detector is required which will allow detection of light
element analyses on low z materials down to atomic number of 4 (BE).
Thermal cycling of the detector is required without degradation and the
cool down time of the detector should not exceed four hours. On site
system training by a microscopist and support of the system and
software by service engineers are required. The system should meet the
minimum requirements as follows: Detector, Digital Acquisition for
x-ray signal processing and digital image acquisition, Minimum
specification for digital x-ray processing, Computer, Software, Image
processing, and other requirements which will be addressed in the
Request for Quotes (RFQ). Delivery of items are required no later than
