E-MAIL: Lauretta E. Cole, L.E.COLE@larc.nasa.gov. NASA/LaRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for SERVICE MAINTENANCE CONTRACT ON GOVERNMENT OWNED CHROMATOGRAPHS AND ACCESSORIES. MAINTENANCE SHALL INCLUDE ROUTINE INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT, WHEN NECESSARY, OF PARTS; TRAVEL AND LABOR. THIS CHROMATOGRAPHIC EQUIPMENT IS USED TO PURIFY, QUANTIFY, AND CHARACTERIZE THE MOLECULAR WEIGHTS OF AEROSPACE POLYMERIC MATERIALS. THIS SERVICE MAINTENANCE CONTRACT IS REQUIRED TO KEEP THIS EQUIPMENT OPERATING AT MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY. THE PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE FOR THIS CONTRACT WILL BE FOR A PERIOD NOT LESS THAN ONE YEAR WITH OPTIONS TO EXTEND THE PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE FOR NOT MORE THAN FOUR (4)ADDITIONAL ONE-YEAR PERIOD. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from WATERS CORPORATION, 34 MAPLE STREET, MILFORD, MA. ONLY ONE RESPONSIBLE SOURCE. THE EQUIPMENT WAS MANUFACTURED BY WATERS CORPORATION AND SERVICE IS AVAILABLE ONLY THROUGH MANUFACTURER. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on MARCH 15, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
