This procurement is for a basic quantity of six (6) (2 each of the basic (6) quantity being pre-production units) portable, electrically powered vacuum sanding systems to be used both above and below decks aboard US Navy vessels by one or two operators at the same time. By connecting this unit to shipboard electrical outlets, the unit shall be capable of removing paint, paint residue, rust, and associated debris, and containerizing it for safe and easy disposal. The basic system shall consist of a wheeled cart, a collection canister with removable collection bags and filters, plug-in electrical supply cable, pneumatic air supply hose (for the tools), crush proof suction hoses, various grinding and sanding tools, and initial startup consumables. This requirement shall be fulfilled by supplying "commercial items" (as defined in section 2.101 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation). The procurement also provides provisions for submission of provisioning and other data. This contract type will be firm fixed price with two (2) option periods for up to sixty (60) additional units. The Government will award a contract resulting from this solicitation to the responsible offeror whose offer conforming to the solicitation will be most advantageous to the Government technical, past performance and price considered.
