david.mork@bep.treas.gov. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is
seeking Offerors capable of providing State-of-the Art Computerized
Numerical Control (CNC) equipment for the fabrication of steel dies
ranging in size from one (1) inch square to thirty-six (36) inches
square plan area. The process envisioned shall be completely
machine-controlled. All support equipment, hardware, and software
required for a complete and functional system shall be included. A
typical process MAY consist of the following equipment: Enhanced
engineering CAD software, CAM software, tool-path and programming, CNC
machining center, electrode fabrication, Wire EDM, die and fixture
fabrication, CNC Sinker, EDM die fabrication, and PC (personal
computer) controlled optical inspection system. All CNC machining
centers and PC_s that support both the CAD and CAM packages shall be
100% compatible. A local area network shall link all CNC equipment and
associated PCs to allow direct communication for transfer of code and
data. Portability of the varioussoftware packages is required. All
computer equipment and associated software shall be Y2K compliant. The
response to this sources sought shall provide technical information
and equipment options in sufficient detail to provide a clear
understanding of the equipment, hardware, and software compatibility,
portability, system platforms, operation systems, and options
available. In addition, the response shall provide information on media
types available for the various machine codes and operating software
and provisions for back-up and/or duplicate machine code and operating
software. All machining centers, hardware, and software shall be new
commercially available items of the latest model and /or revision where
applicable. The Bureau requires all equipment, and computer hardware to
be 120 volt, single phase, 60 Hz and/or 480 volt, three phase, 60 Hz.
Any equipment and/or computer hardware that is not of the stated
voltage shall be clearly stated in the response. Interested parties
shall submit their company_s information to determine their capability.
