sonja.marsh@hurlburt.af.mil. CONSTRUCT HANGAR TAIL ENCLOSURES. Request
for Sources: Hurlburt Field has a requirement for movable aircraft
tail enclosures to be added onto two existing MC-130 nose docks. The
current nose dock facilities allow the front portion of an aircraft to
be pulled within but leaves the tail portion exposed. The requested
tail enclosures should allow critical maintenance to proceed year round
as necessary for mission requirements and provide protection from
damaging winds for C-130s that are not able to be evacuated prior to
the arrival of hurricanes. The tail enclosures should be metal frame,
metal exterior structures that can be integrated functionally and
aesthetically into the existing facilities. Enclosures must provide the
following: Protection from exterior elements, to include wind forces up
to 130 mph; adequate clearance in open position to allow transit of
towed aircraft into and out of nose dock; connectivity with existing
facilities_ electrical and fire protection (AFFF) systems;5 ton
overhead hoist; adequate lighting and ventilation for heavy aircraft
maintenance work and personnel access doors. Specifications are as
follows: MC-130 aircraft: 101_ length, 132.5_ wingspan, 38.25_ tall.
Bldg 90029 Nose dock: Approximately 26,000 square feet, built in 1995.
Current door opening is 156.7_ wide 24.2_ tall, bounded by 36.3_ door
enclosure panels on each side of the opening; with a total building
width of 276.3_. This nose dock encloses approximately the forward 80_
of an aircraft parked within it. The aircraft door elevation is not
flush along its entire length. Bldg 90032 Nose dock: Approximately
21,500 square feet, built in 1984. Current door opening is 152.25_ wide
24_ tall, bounded by 36.25_ door enclosure panels on each side of the
opening; with a total building width of 204.25_. This nose dock
encloses approximately the forward 76_ of an aircraft parked within it.
