The Government intends to issue a Request for Proposal for the renovation of Segment III of the North Wing at the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research (NCAUR) in Peoria, Illinois. Significant elements of work for Segment III include: a new biological support laboratory located on the basement level with a Class IIA biological safety cabinet as well as a chemical support laboratory and an environmental chamber room. The first floor contains generic research laboratories, with chemistry fume hoods and Class IIA biological safety cabinets. The second and third floors contain generic research laboratories, along with office spaces and technician spaces. The third floor also contains an instrumentation laboratory. The attic area contains HVAC and plumbing equipment and fume hood exhaust equipment. Removal of asbestos and lead containing materials are included. The estimated cost of construction is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. Time for completion of work will be 540 calendar days after Notice to Proceed. A pre-proposal conference and organized site visit at the facility is tentative scheduled for April 13, 2000.
