FORCE PROJECTION SYMPOSIUM FORCE PROJECTION SYMPOSIUM PLANNED FOR 2-4 MAY 2000, HAMPTON, VIRGINIA. The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) and the U.S. Army Transportation Center will conduct a Force Projection Symposium, with administrative support by the Michigan and Greater Hampton Roads of NDIA. It will be held at the Holiday Inn Hampton Hotel & Conference Center. The theme is "Future Force Projection -- Teaming with Industry -- Moving the Armed Forces anywhere on the Globe". As quoted by General Eric K. Shinseki, U.S. Army Chief of Staff, "The World Situation demands an Army that is strategically responsive. The Army's core competency remains fighting and winning our nation's wars; however, the army must also be capable of operating throughout the range of conflict -- to include low intensity operations and countering asymmetric threats. It must be able to provide early entry forces that can operate jointly, without access to fixed forward bases, and still have the power to slug it out and win campaigns decisively." The registration fee is $290, which includes a continental breakfast and lunch each day.
