COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 13,2000 PSA#2555OPERATIONAL USES FOR HYPERSONIC SYSTEMS AND HYPERSONICS RESEARCH FOR
THE US AIR FORCE -- REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) 1. The U.S. Air Force
is seeking information regarding operational concepts and technologies
for hypersonic systems. Interested respondents must reply to the
Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) point of contact(POC) by 10 April. 2.
The Secretary and Chief of Staff of the Air Force have tasked the Air
Force Scientific Advisory Board to develop operational concepts for
hypersonic systems and an investment plan in hypersonics research to
implement these operational systems and concepts. The applications can
be a missile, air vehicle, or space access. Investments will include
the needed ground test facilities. 3. The information provided may be
included and/or referenced in the SAB presentation to the Secretary and
Chief of Staff and the subsequent report. The members of the Scientific
Advisory Board are comprised of leading scientists and engineers from
industry, academia, and federally funded research centers and
laboratories. Nonproprietary information is highly encouraged because
SAB reports are normally to be cleared for public release and the
non-government membership of the SAB. 4. Responders to this RFI are
requested to contact the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board's POC,

response to this RFI should be submitted directly to Maj. Amon. It is
also requested that initial inputs be limited to 2-10 pages. Eelctronic
submissions are encouraged. Responders may be requested to provide
additional details or presentations to the SAB study team based on
their initial submittals. The study is tentatively scheduling a meeting
in Los Angeles, CA on 13 Apr to receive presentations from selected RFI
