This project consists of maintenance dredging and disposal of dredged
material by hydraulic dredge and pipeline at various locations on the
James River. The contract will be awarded as an Indefinite Quantity
Contract; task orders will be issued for various locations on the James
River. The initial contract ordering period will be one year, with
options for 4 additional periods. Total awards during each ordering
period are not expected to exceed $1,000,000.00. Construction time for
each task order, as well as the specific work requirements for the
respective dredging and material placement operations, will be
indicated in the individual task orders. The contractor shall provide
all necessary plant and equipment capable of dredging to depths of 27
feet below mean low water, and pumping dredged material at distances as
far as 13,500 feet. The contractor will be required to use and maintain
Government furnished placement sites for all dredged material on this
contract. A pre-bid conference will be held on 03 May 2000 in the 3rd
Floor Conference Room at the Norfolk District, Corps of Engineers, 803
Front Street, Norfolk, VA 23510-1096. The purpose of this conference
is to answer questions from potential bidders concerning the
solicitation and contract requirements. Questions may be submitted in
writing to the contracting office POC prior to the conference. The
solicitation will be provided in an electronic format, free of charge
to all registered plan holders. The media through which the Government
chooses to issue this solicitation is compact disk and/or Internet.
The solicitation will not be issued in paper format. Notification of
amendments may be made by facsimile, floppy disk, compact disk and/or
postings to the Internet. The media selected for solicitation
amendments shall be solely at the discretion of the Government;
accordingly, as separate notifications for each amendment may not be
sent to planholders, bidders shall be responsible for monitoring the
Internet for amendments. Interested firms may view and/or download the

Requests for the solicitation compact disk may be made by registering
at this site as a planholder. Telephone, facsimile, mail, and e-mail
requests for the compact disk will not be honored. Prospective
contractors must be registered in the DoD Central Contractor
Registration (CCR) database prior to award. Lack of registration in the
CCR database will make an offeror ineligible for award. Information on
CCR registration and annual confirmation requirements may be obtained
by calling 1-888-227-2423, or via the Internet at
