E-MAIL: Sharon Jackson, sjackson@elcbalt.uscg.mil. The Coast Guard is seeking qualified sources that can manufacture a Self Locating Datum Marker Buoy (SLDMB). The SLDMB is 7/10th Coast Ocean Dynamics Experiment (CODE) Davis-Style oceanographic surface drifter that provides near real-time surface data to search and rescue (SAR) controllers via satellite transmission. The SLDMBs shall open and self deploy a free-floating ocenaographic buoy with a battery powered electronics packaged, which acquires and transmits data from on-board sensors. SLDMBs will be used in conjuction with the SLDMB Systems to receive, decode, archive, and display SLDMB data via a web-based server. The solicitation will be issued as full and open competition and will be a requirements type contract with one (1) base year and two (2) option year periods thereafter. The work shall be performed in accordance with the Coast Guard specification. Delivery to be F.O.B. destination to either the U.S.C.G. Engineering Logistic Center 2401 Hawkins Point Rd., Baltimore, MD 21226-5000 or U.S.C.G. Engineering Logistic Center Columbia Warehouse Annex, 6751 Alexander Bell Drive, Columbia MD 21046. There is a requirement for First Article Testing. Under the First Article Testing, 15 SLDMBs and 24 dummy buoys will be required for airdrop testing. Estimated quantity for SLDMBs for the base year is 300 each, the first option year is estimated at 150 each and the secondoption year is estimated at 250 each.
