E-MAIL: Kimberly R. Day, kimberly.day@msfc.nasa.gov. NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Advanced Laser Ignition Technology Demonstration. This effort is to demonstrate an advanced laser ignition system to be used in hydrocarbon rocket-based-combined cycle engines. This effort will provide a design concept specifing ignition systems requirements including the laser power and the projected system weight. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the R&D effort from CFD Research Corp, Huntsville, AL 35805. CFD Research Corp has the technology and expertise to carry out the demonstration. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to Kimberly R. Day no later than 4:30 p.m. local time on March 21, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or notto conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.
