Contracting Officer, (202) 707-0412 The Library of Congress intends to
negotiate on a sole-source basis with Cactus Software, Inc., to
conduct a ninety day pilot project which will offer access to the
Library of Congress Classification Schedules to the external library
community. The Library of Congress uses the Minaret software system
which was developed by Cactus for use on the World Wide Web. The
purpose of the pilot is to determine the feasibility of distributing
Library of Congress Classification data to the external library and
research community. Minaret software has the demonstrated capability to
display classification records in both MARC format and in the required
formatted display. The Library of Congress intends to solicit and
negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR Part 6.302-1.
The Minaret Web version of the Library of Congress Classification
Schedules is currently available within the Library of Congress and is
used by Library staff members. Award is anticipated on or about May 1,
2000. This notice is nota request for competitive quotes but responses
received on or before April 14, 2000 will be considered. All responses
