(770) 488-2699, Sect I, MS-K18 The Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, (CDC) intends to award a sole source contract to Battelle
Centers for Public Health Research and Evaluation, Seattle, WA, for
scientific and technical support to the Division of Cancer Prevention
and Control. The award is a modification to an existing contract which
will increase the maximum contract value beyond that which was
originally contemplated. Tasks to be conducted are (1) evaluation and
synthesis of best practices for state cancer planning; (2) development
of an interactive cost projection program for state specific costs of
a colorectal cancer screening program; (3) development of a business
case/model for colorectal cancer control; (4) assessing the current
national capacity to provide screening and follow-up endoscopic
examinations for the prevention and early detection of colorectal
cancer; (5) development of guidelines and recommendations for a
national colorectal cancer screening program; (6) strategies for
reaching American Indian/Alaska native women; (7) evaluation,
consultation and technical assistance for the replication and
dissemination of effective breast and cervical cancer health education
interventions pilot activities; and (8) the development of a guidance
document and evaluation model for cancer control program interventions
using the replication model. The tasks are continuation of developing
stages of work of previous task orders performed under the basic
contract. The anticipated performance period is date of award of each
task order through September 2002. It is believed that Battelle
possesses the capability and is uniquely qualified to perform these
tasks due to the fact that the contractor has gained experience in
successfully providing a level of expertise and very specific skills
for tasks related to native Americans/Alaska natives and comprehensive
cancer control in state health agencies. All responsible sources
qualified to provide the foregoing services may submit a response which
